"Evenrude" - Dragonfly – Symbol of Good Luck

Dragonfly body is made from Tupelo; legs from string steel wire; wings from acetate. Seed head is carved from wood. Main stem is made from layers of brass welding road and brass tubing. Grass blades made from caning reeds. Painted with acrylic washes.
My inspiration for "Evenrude" came from jet skiing the Snake River and crossing the river to obtain the grass stem for height from water flooded roots; the wood bottom imitated the waves to recreate the look.
The piece's size is approximately "13" high.
